Along Route to Cinnamon Bay - Viewpoint of Caneel Bay

Arrival Day 1: St. Thomas to St. John

  • Arrive in St. Thomas and pick up your rental car.

  • Drive toward the car ferry to St. John as quickly as possible.

  • If you have to wait for the ferry, visit Sapphire Beach Bar & Hotel to grab a quick drink and enjoy the beach.

  • Change into your bathing suit while waiting for the ferry.

  • Take the Love City Car Ferry to St. John. Book upon arrival.

  • Upon arrival, head directly to Hawksnest Beach – known for its large waves. Swim at your own risk as the surf can be strong.

  • Enjoy dinner and drinks at High Tide Bar & Grill or a nearby restaurant.

  • Check into your Airbnb for the night (3 nights).

Day 2: Snorkel & Hiking

  • Wear your bathing suit under your clothes for this day.

  • Head to Soloman Bay Beach early to watch the sunrise. Access via the easy 1-mile Lind Point Trail hike.

  • After sunrise, go to your scheduled snorkel or scuba excursion with Low Key Watersports. Be sure to book in advance.

  • If you get motion sickness, talk with your doctor about prevention options.

  • After your water excursion, hike the Cinnamon Bay Trail (0.5 miles loop) to explore plantation ruins. You may see wild donkeys and deer along the way.

  • Head to Cinnamon Bay Beach for sunset views.

  • Enjoy a late dinner at The Tap Room before heading back to your Airbnb.

Day 3: St. John’s Beaches

  • Wake up early and head to Maho Beach to snorkel with sea turtles. The earlier you go, the fewer crowds.

  • Watch for turtle heads popping up at the surface before entering the water.

  • Be prepared for sand fleas or gnats — they are harmless but can bite.

  • After snorkeling, visit Trunk Bay Overlook for a photo op of the famous white sand beach.

  • Head down to Trunk Bay Beach — a favorite! It offers a food/drink stand and an underwater snorkel trail.

  • This beach does cost $5 per entrant.

  • If you want to explore more, drive to the east end to see Round Bay and Hurricane Hole.

  • Optionally, hike Brown Bay Trail to reach Brown Bay Beach and look out for mongoose.

  • After dark, head to The Beach Bar for dinner.

Day 4: Hike & Flight Home

  • Arrive at sunrise at Reef Bay Trail for a 1-hour out-and-back hike to view petroglyphs.

  • Stop for a photo at the Virgin Islands National Park sign located on North Shore Road between Cruz Bay and Caneel Bay.

  • Take the car ferry back to St. Thomas. Book upon arrival.

  • If time allows before your flight, drive up to Drake’s Seat viewpoint for panoramic photos.

  • Return your rental car and head to the airport at least 90 minutes before departure.
